To ensure the autonomy of the reefer container, Carrier diesel generators (GenSet) are used. In turn, refrigerated containers are equipped with reefer units, which are connected to these generators. Gensets are able to provide enough power to start the reefer unit.
This makes the use of clip on gensets an integral part of the transportation of goods that require a special temperature set. Since the genset is hanging on the end of the chilled container, directly above the freezing unit, no extra modifications to the car’s or the container’s body construction are needed.
Reefer containers are used as isothermal equipment that can sustain a forced temperature for a predetermined amount of time. Diesel generators Carrier, in turn, will allow the use of a refrigerated container just as a refrigerator, allowing during the flight to change the temperature as needed.

The new PowerLINE Series 55 models use a familiar engine style and a new permanent-magnet generator in a system designed for reliability and simplicity of operation.
Recommended for European applications, the Series 55 bears the CE mark, verification that its 18.5 kW engine complies with Europe’s Stage V nonroad mobile machinery emissions standard, which includes low thresholds for carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides.The generator features a single-winding, contactless architecture for reduced complexity and enhanced reliability.
Carrier Transicold’s exclusive FuelWise feature allows the system to run at two speeds: 1800 rpm, corresponding to 60 Hz, and 1500 rpm, corresponding to 50 Hz. It will automatically switch to high speed based on conditions corresponding to refrigeration system load.
